PUSH Buffalo diligently worked with NYSERDA, the Center for Working Families and dozens of other stakeholders to design the Green Jobs – Green New York (GJGNY) Blueprint [PDF] and legislation.
GJGNY provides New Yorkers with access to energy audits, installation services and low-cost financing. GJGNY will deliver these services in targeted communities with the support of constituency based organizations, like PUSH Buffalo, who will recruit residential, small businesses, non-profits, and multifamily building owners into energy assessment and financing programs.
PUSH Green, PUSH Buffalo’s community-based energy efficiency initiative, implement the GJGNY program in Western New York. To help the State reach their energy efficiency goals, PUSH Green will work as an independent outreach contractor for NYSERDA to create living-wage jobs for Erie, Chautauqua, Niagara and Cattaraugus Counties homeowners while helping them to reduce their energy bills.
Green Jobs – Green New York provides funding for energy assessments, low-cost financing for energy upgrades, and technical and financial support to develop a clean energy workforce. Green Jobs – Green New York is a statewide effort to strengthen our communities through energy efficiency. It enables New Yorkers to make a significant difference in our homes, businesses and neighborhoods—making them more comfortable, more sustainable, and more economically sound. Green Jobs –Green New York is administered by NYSERDA and made available by the Green Jobs – Green New York Act of 2009.
