Green Building Retrofit Program for Small Businesses & Non-Profits

Our Green Building Retrofit Program connects eligible small businesses and not-for-profits with free energy audits and affordable energy-saving upgrades. It also identifies additional building improvements that make energy upgrades possible.

This program aims to leverage energy efficiency related investments to drive economic development priorities in the Buffalo region – this includes local job creation within distressed communities. Funding will be available to qualified small commercial and non-profit businesses for purposes of making eligible capital improvements that prepare the building for installation of comprehensive energy efficiency retrofit measures through NYSERDA’s Green Jobs - Green NY (GJGNY).

GJGNY Energy Audit

Many manufacturing facilities and buildings in Buffalo were built during a time when energy
efficiency was not a priority. We now know it can impact the business’s bottom line.

An energy audit through GJGNY is your first step towards energy efficiency. It will educate you about your building and make recommendations for upgrades that will save you money on your utility bills – improving the energy efficiency of your operations.

Energy efficiency improvements pay for themselves within the first few years. Taking the first step can sometimes be the hardest part. PUSH Green can help!

The steps are simple to help save your business money:

1.Meet our Commercial Energy Advocate- You'll talk with our Commercial Energy Advocate who will be your guide throughout the process.

2. Free Energy Audit- Our Commercial Energy Advocate will coordinate your audit application with the audit company, who will process your application and schedule your audit.

3.Pre–qualified incentives for installing high efficiency equipment - The audit will identify measures that are pre-qualified for rebates from NYSERDA or the utility companies. Examples include high efficiency lighting, updated heating systems, and kitchen equipment.

4. Low interest NYSERDA financing - Work with our Commercial Energy Advocate to identify ways to finance energy efficiency improvements. NYSERDA offers two great options: On Bill Recovery and a Participation Loan.

5. Make additional improvements – Our Commercial Energy Advocate will schedule a one-on-one once the building audit is complete to identify additional building improvements.
